In response to Governor Dunleavy’s fiscal plan last week, Dahlstrom released the following statement: “I applaud the Governor for releasing a plan to safeguard and protect the dividend that so many Alaskans depend on each year. But I believe that it must be taken further and also voted on by the people of Alaska. We cannot let Juneau politicians treat the Permanent Fund like a piggy bank, and the plan I put forth in November would eliminate this dangerous practice.” Dahlstrom’s comprehensive plan includes a condition that puts Alaskans in the driver’s seat: Nothing happens without a direct vote of the people.
