On her decision to run, Dahlstrom said:

“I’m stepping forward to lead Alaska because I believe in its future, and I want our kids and grandkids to see theirs here. I’ve spent years serving this state with grit, honesty, and a commitment to getting things done. As Lieutenant Governor, I’ve fought to expand our energy opportunities and safeguard the freedoms that define life in Alaska. As Commissioner of Corrections, I overturned soft-on-crime policies that weakened public safety. And in the Legislature, I stood up for Alaskans and protected the Permanent Fund Dividend.

“Now, I’m running for Governor to bring experience, determination, and common sense to the job. My promise is simple: I’ll work every day to make Alaska a place where families can put down roots, businesses can grow, and communities can thrive.”

Nancy currently serves as Alaska’s Lieutenant Governor, where she has stood up for election integrity, budget discipline, and defended Alaska’s values and interests. She previously served as Commissioner of the Department of Corrections and as a member of the State Legislature.

Nancy’s Alaska story began at 18, when a two-week summer job turned into a lifetime commitment. After working on the pipeline that summer, she fell in love with Alaska’s independence and spirit of community. She and her husband, Kit, raised four children, built a small business, and are now the proud grandparents of eleven. Through Kit’s experience as a business owner, Nancy saw firsthand the obstacles that entrepreneurs face in Alaska — and the resilience it takes to overcome them.

Today, she brings that same resilience to public service. Working alongside Governor Mike Dunleavy, Nancy has led on energy development, responsible budgeting, and protecting the values Alaskans hold dear.

Nancy and Kit live in Eagle River.
