| EAGLE RIVER, AK – Lt. Gov. Nancy Dahlstrom this week highlighted her plan to guarantee a reliable, sustainable Permanent Fund Dividend for Alaska families, following the publication of her opinion column in the Anchorage Daily News detailing a constitutionally protected endowment approach to the fund. “In my view, nothing changes with the dividend unless the people of Alaska say so at the ballot box. Period,” Dahlstrom said. “For me, this has always been about keeping faith with Alaskans and making sure families can count on a PFD that is protected, predictable, and strong for generations.” Dahlstrom noted her long record on the issue, including her time in the Legislature opposing attempts to tap money that belonged to dividend payers. “Alaskans built the Permanent Fund. Alaskans deserve the final say on making it unbreakable,” Dahlstrom said. “When I am governor, I will work to put this plan on the ballot and to give every Alaskan a clear choice: a protected, reliable dividend for the long haul, or more of the same chaos. I know which side I am on.” The full op-ed is available at the Anchorage Daily News. |
