Nancy Dahlstrom is Alaska’s Lieutenant Governor, a proven fighter for public safety, fiscal responsibility, and the values that make Alaska strong. President Trump called her “a fighter” — and with decades of leadership in public service and the private sector, Nancy has earned that reputation.
Nancy’s Alaska story began at 18, when a two-week summer trip turned into a lifetime commitment. After working on the pipeline that first summer, she fell in love with Alaska’s rugged independence and community spirit. She and her husband, Kit, built their life here — raising four children, running a small business, and now enjoying eleven grandchildren. Through Kit’s experience as a small business owner, Nancy saw firsthand the challenges entrepreneurs face in Alaska.
Being raised in a military family taught Nancy the importance of service and always keeping your word. Her drive to solve problems and improve life for Alaska families led Nancy into public service. She served nine years in the State Legislature, where she chaired key committees on Military & Veterans Affairs and Armed Services. As a legislator, Nancy kept her promises — protecting the Permanent Fund, defending Alaska’s role in national defense, standing up to special interests, and never compromising her principles.
When rising crime threatened Alaska communities under Senate Bill 91, Nancy stepped up again, serving as Commissioner of Corrections. She prioritized victims, backed law enforcement, kept dangerous criminals behind bars, and sought compassionate solutions to the addiction crisis.
Today, as Lieutenant Governor, Nancy has fought for election integrity, helped lead Alaska through challenges, and worked alongside Governor Mike Dunleavy to unleash Alaska’s energy potential and protect our way of life. With a record of balancing budgets, cutting waste, and delivering results, Nancy has the executive experience to lead.
As Governor, Nancy will focus on:
Alaska is where Nancy found adventure, built a family, and discovered her calling to serve. She’s running for Governor to ensure Alaska remains the best place to live, work, and raise a family — for her children, her grandchildren, and for every Alaskan.
